Lantek in Germany

Lantek is a global company with a local approach. We aim to stay close to our partners and customers, to understand their needs and specific requirements first-hand, and to ensure that this close partnership goes hand in hand with the best solutions to improve their productivity and efficiency.

Lantek opened its subsidiary in Darmstadt in 1996 to establish a direct local presence. What started as a small team has grown into a strong organization that supports customers and machine manufacturers in all aspects of programming sheet metal and profile processing machines.

Whether it is consulting on company organization, production management, or the control of specific machine types, assistance with software installation and operation, or services such as maintenance, support, and custom development, Lantek provides fast and expert support to its customers and partners across all these areas.

Lantek Germany continues to evolve in order to meet the growing demands of its customers in the German market, as well as in Austria and Switzerland.

History

Germany has one of the strongest industrial traditions in the world, with metalworking serving as the backbone of sectors such as the automotive industry, machinery, industrial equipment, and precision engineering.

Throughout the 20th century, the country developed a highly advanced manufacturing base, driven by companies such as Volkswagen, Siemens, and ThyssenKrupp, and supported by an extensive network of small and medium-sized enterprises known as the Mittelstand. This ecosystem fostered the early adoption of CNC technologies, laser cutting, and highly automated production systems, establishing Germany as a global leader in industrial efficiency and engineering quality.

The sector has also been shaped by strong institutional support, including industry associations such as VDMA and major trade fairs like Hannover Messe, EuroBLECH, and Blechexpo, which have played a key role in driving innovation and knowledge exchange across the metalworking industry.

The sector, today

Today, the German sheet metal sector is highly mature and technologically advanced, but it faces increasing pressure to maintain competitiveness in a globalized environment. Rising costs, supply chain complexity, and the need for flexibility are pushing companies to optimize processes beyond machinery performance.

Digitalization is now a central priority, with growing adoption of integrated solutions that connect CAD/CAM, MES, and ERP systems to achieve full visibility and control across the production chain.

In this context, Germany remains a leading industrial market, where competitiveness increasingly depends on data integration, automation, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing production demands.

Driving the industry forward with the best

Lantek is part of the leading industrial and technology associations in Germany:

DSTV

German Steel Construction Association (DSTV)

German Steel Construction Association (DSTV) is a key industry association for structural steel construction in Germany, bringing together manufacturers, engineering companies, technology providers, and other stakeholders across the entire value chain. Its mission is to strengthen the competitiveness and development of the steel construction sector by promoting collaboration, technical excellence, and innovation.

DSTV plays an active role in defining and advancing industry standards, including widely adopted technical guidelines and digital interfaces that enable efficient design, manufacturing, and data exchange across systems. By supporting standardization and interoperability, it helps companies streamline processes, reduce errors, and improve productivity in increasingly connected production environments.

The association also serves as a platform for knowledge sharing and industry alignment. Through technical committees, working groups, publications, and events, DSTV facilitates the exchange of expertise and best practices among its members. At the same time, it represents the interests of the sector in front of institutions and contributes to the evolution of regulations and technical frameworks at both national and international levels.

For companies operating in steel construction and fabrication, DSTV represents a benchmark for quality, reliability, and industry alignment. Being connected to its ecosystem signals commitment to recognized standards, continuous improvement, and integration within a highly specialized and demanding industrial environment.

VdLB (Verband deutscher Laseranwender – Blechbearbeitung e.V.)

VdLB (Association of German Laser Users – Sheet Metal Processing e.V.) is a specialized German industry association that brings together companies and experts focused on laser applications in sheet metal processing. Its members include manufacturers, technology providers, and industrial users working with laser cutting, welding, and advanced fabrication technologies.

The association acts as a practical forum for technical exchange and industry alignment. It connects professionals across the ecosystem to share real-world experience, evaluate new technologies, and address common challenges such as productivity, quality requirements, and workforce constraints

Through meetings, site visits, and collaborative initiatives, VdLB promotes the adoption of efficient, future-ready manufacturing processes. It enables companies to stay up to date with evolving laser technologies, improve operational performance, and align with best practices in modern sheet metal fabrication.

For companies operating in laser cutting and metal processing, VdLB represents a focused, expert-driven network that supports continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and technological advancement within a highly specialized segment of the industry.
