Lantek in Japan
Lantek is a global company with a local approach. We aim to stay close to our customers and partners, understand their operational needs first-hand, and build strong relationships that help improve productivity and efficiency across the manufacturing process.
In 2025, Lantek officially opened its office in Yokohama, reinforcing its presence in one of the world’s most advanced manufacturing markets. Located in the Shin-Yokohama district, the office allows the company to work more closely with Japanese manufacturers, machine builders, and industrial partners, providing direct local support for CAD/CAM, MES, and integrated production management solutions.
Japan represents a highly demanding environment in terms of precision, quality, and operational efficiency. Through its local presence, Lantek aims to support manufacturers in optimizing production processes, improving connectivity across systems, and adapting to increasingly digital and automated manufacturing environments.
History
Japan has one of the most advanced metalworking industries in the world, built around sectors such as automotive, electronics, machinery, shipbuilding, and industrial equipment. Following the rapid industrial expansion of the post-war decades, Japanese manufacturers became globally recognized for precision engineering, production efficiency, and continuous improvement methodologies.
The country played a major role in the adoption and development of advanced manufacturing technologies, including CNC machinery, robotics, laser cutting, and highly automated production systems. Companies such as Toyota and Mazak helped position Japan as a global benchmark in industrial manufacturing and metal processing technologies.
The sector, today
Today, the Japanese sheet metal sector remains one of the most technologically advanced and quality-driven markets globally. Manufacturers operate with extremely high standards for precision, reliability, and process optimization, particularly in automotive, electronics, and high-value industrial equipment.
At the same time, the industry faces challenges related to workforce availability, production flexibility, and the integration of increasingly complex manufacturing environments. This is accelerating investment in automation, digitalization, and connected production systems. Integrated CAD/CAM, MES, and ERP solutions are becoming increasingly important for improving traceability, production visibility, and operational efficiency across the factory.
