Lantek opened its subsidiary in Italy in 1999 to support a growing number of machine tool manufacturers that distributed Lantek Expert, our CAD/CAM nesting software, together with their machines in the Italian market. Over the following 10 years, Lantek Italy experienced steady growth from its headquarters in Cherasco, in the Piedmont region..
In 2009, we expanded our business focus to include the full suite of Lantek solutions for the sheet metal sector, incorporating Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). for production management and control.
Lantek Italy continues to grow. We support advanced manufacturing in Italy and act as a trusted technology partner for the sheet metal industry worldwide. Our consultants and technical experts bring extensive hands-on experience and are recognized as trusted advisors in the sector.
History
Italy has a long tradition in metalworking, strongly linked to its industrial districts and a dense network of small and medium-sized enterprises. Since the mid-20th century, regions such as Lombardy, Veneto, and Emilia-Romagna have developed highly specialized manufacturing ecosystems, particularly in machinery, automotive components, and industrial equipment.
Unlike more centralized industrial models, the Italian sector evolved through clusters of flexible and highly skilled companies, often family-owned, with strong expertise in fabrication and mechanical processing. This structure encouraged early adoption of technologies such as CNC machining, laser cutting, and advanced forming, especially in sectors where customization and short production runs are common.
