A recent project with a producer of frozen croissants, involved updating a key part of their production line. The new system, using CO₂ (R744), brought the line’s capacity to 15,000 units per hour. It also improved safety and reduced environmental impact.
To maintain full control over production without external subcontracting, the company depends on structured processes and technical consistency. This is where Lantek plays a role. The technical department uses Lantek Expert to prepare programs for the company’s cutting machines. These include flat laser systems and a tube laser.
Every month, the company produces around 4,700 sheet metal parts and 2,200 tube parts. All drawings are created internally and saved in DXF, DWG, or STEP formats. Nesting is handled based on material type, regardless of which customer the order belongs to. This method helps make better use of each sheet and allows the company to re-use leftover material, as long as dimensions permit.
Several features in Lantek Expert have become routine for the team. Common-line cutting reduces machine time and energy use. Automatic nesting helps lower waste. Optimized toolpaths support clean, accurate cutting. Since the arrival of laser technology at the company, Lantek has been the reference point for programming. No separate tools are used.
Planning and traceability are handled through Lantek MES Manager. The system allows real-time tracking of every production stage, from order preparation to machine status. Operators record progress directly from their workstations. The information is then sent to the technical office without delay.
MES also provides access to production history and performance data. This includes order tracking, material usage, time logs, and inventory details. Dashboards help visualize workload and status. The software is connected to the company’s ERP, which supplies the production orders, codes, and job names required for each batch.
The company explains that having this level of information has improved how they manage daily work. It has also helped reduce setup times, avoid overlaps, and better allocate resources. Reports generated from MES allow the team to check machine usage and evaluate planning accuracy. All of this supports continuous improvement based on actual data.
Millennium is currently developing additional digital systems to support traceability, maintain consistent quality levels, and refine production performance. Their goal is to integrate digital tools step by step into every stage of the process.
“Lantek plays a central role in how we manage production. Its flexibility and level of integration allow us to plan better, work faster, and increase precision,” says the technical team. “The support has been fast and responsive, and the system has adapted well to our requirements. It’s not just software. It’s part of how we operate.”
